Ode to Marcia Derse

Marcia Derse is a fiber artist extraordinaire. She produces art that is then made into fabric yardage. That yardage is then purchased by sewist and is made into fabulous quilts and garments. I bought a one yard piece of fabric from her and created the above Textile piece. I inserted a few scrap fabrics from my stash and then put a vintage piece of crochet work into the piece. I stood back and realized that I hadn't created the piece, Marcia Derse had. Without the color and rhythm, shapes and forms in her original fabric yardage, there was nothing to celebrate. I thanked her profusely via email and she graciously responded that she was always interested in how her material was used. That was a sign post for me. I am now on a solo journey. I will let you know where it leads me.
